Protecting people and the environment is our top priority. For this reason, we have implemented a comprehensive QHSSE management (Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Management) as well as an emergency management system which has been certified by successive audits conducted by independent external experts. This enables us to constantly improve safety and further develop safety-related measures.

ECM certificate

We have been certified as ECM (Entity in Charge of Maintenance) since 2012. Since then, Wascosa has been responsible for ECM functions I to III. The maintenance provision (function IV) is subcontracted to our contractual partners.

Environmental, social, governance (ESG)

Since its inception in 2007 and with a global network of more than 75,000 rated companies, EcoVadis  is now the world's largest and most trusted provider of corporate sustainability ratings. Since the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) rating was introduced in 2021, Wascosa has, along with other freight wagon leasing companies, been a company which conducts its business responsibly and is an active supporter of CSR. In addition, we develop sustainable and environmentally friendly product solutions in line with Environment Social Governance (ESG).

Improving access to health and water

Compensation of CO2 emissions

This project supported by Wascosa helps identify and repair broken boreholes in the Zoba Maekel district, located in the Central Region of Eritrea, showing high levels of poverty. Many boreholes are owned by community-based organizations (CBOs) and have broken down because maintenance programmes have been poorly managed, or proved too expensive. This project supports communities in renovating their boreholes so that they deliver clean water and breakdowns are quickly fixed.
