2014 is a very special year for WASCOSA: it is the year in which it celebrates its 50th anniversary. WASCOSA has its sights firmly set on the future, even during the highlight of the anniversary celebrations, the WASCOSA Future Day conference on the topic of trends and perspectives in rail-freight traffic. The WASCOSA Future Day with top-ranking thinkers and makers of our day and age took place on Thursday, 11 September 2014 in the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. The industry-related talks were rounded off by the German trend researcher and futurist Matthias Horx, who talked about the «The power of megatrends and the future of mobility and transport». The WASCOSA Future Day was crowned by the talk «Surpassing borders and going new ways» by Bertrand Piccard, the Swiss scientist, pioneer and adventurer, and the first person to circumnavigate the globe in a balloon. The conference met with a great response and was attended by around 400 participants in our industry from 15 countries.
«We did everything we could to offer the participants an informative, entertaining and exciting conference,» said Philipp Müller, Delegate of the Board of Directors. The three-day anniversary programme with further supporting programme highlights rounded off the official part.
WASCOSA repositioned itself as Europe's first provider of freight wagon systems right on time for the anniversary. This realignment took place on account of the basic conditions on the rail-freight traffic market, which have changed greatly over the past few years. WASCOSA numbers around 7,000 wagons in its fleet of vehicles on its 50th anniversary.
